So when I was a new seminary teacher about 20 years ago, there was a quote by

elder Packer that by today's standard went totally viral and it was read to students

as a way to encourage them and bolden them and to make them realize that they were just

amazing young people. In fact, more amazing than anyone had ever even imagined

before. It went something like you were once generals in the war in heaven.

One day when you're in the spirit world,

everyone will be around and they'll

I'll be talking about what prophet did you live with

and some people will say, well, I was with Moses many

part of the Red Sea, another white saying,

I fought with Captain Maroni.

And as you stand there in amazement,

and this is the part that we love the most,

someone will ask you, which of the prophets did you live with? And when you say Gordon B. Hinkley's, a high. you You were held back 6,000 years because you were the most talented, most obedient, and most courageous, and most righteous. Are you still?

I love that quote so much that I made handouts.

I give it to every student. I read it all the time and then guess what guys he

never said it in fact in 2008 the first presidency released an official

statement that this specific quote should not be used

in church, talks, classes, bulletins or newsletters and that it was also instructed to the bishops and

people who received this letter to correct anyone who attempted to perpetuate the use.

And what I learned from that experience in my first year of teaching seminary was to fact check everything.

No matter who gives you the quote, no matter who says it's awesome, you got a fact check it.
