When a North Carolina college student went for a run while visiting home during a break,

she was waylaid by a cruel killer who held her hostage and ultimately took her life.

After decades of waiting, her killer is finally named in this breaking case update episode of Last Seen Alive.

earlier this year during our first multi-case quarterly episode of 2024.

And I chose to cover it because it was, I believed at the time, a very cold case.

And I thought any publicity will probably help.

However, it turns out that behind the scenes, cold case investigators were making progress in leaps and bounds.

And I'm happy to tell you that after more than 40 years, this case has finally been solved.

It's always really great when we get to do an update episode like this.

And this isn't the only one we've got to do this month.

It's the second one. And I didn't think there was much hope of this one being solved anytime soon. Right. It's very encouraging. This is a

really great reminder that it's never too late for answers to be unearthed. And knowing that

investigators are working diligently behind the scenes on cases like these, sometimes when we don't

even know,

rather than allowing them to be just buried by passing years, it gives me real cause for

optimism.

It's easy to get disheartened when we're covering these cases and feel like they're being

lost to the sands of time.

And then out of left field, occasionally, we'll get one of these really old cases solved.
