Summary

For the solo rider, or the times when any rider finds themselves solo and having an adventure, it doesn’t take much to find yourself in a situation where your motorcycle has landed on its side, or worse, off the road or trail. This is when one of these techniques will help rescue, retrieve or unstuck your motorcycle. Featured is David Petersen, Chris Birch and Bill Dragoo.

Riding with a group has its advantages and one of those of course is when things go wrong you got a lot more help.

0:06.0

But the reality is riding is a lot of fun and pushing your limits off-road on an adventure bike to many of us is incredibly fun.

0:13.0

And once you get a taste, you just want more.

0:15.0

And it's not always possible to ride with others.

0:18.0

Maybe you head out for something and then you see a little road and you take off down it to explore.

0:22.0

Sometimes you just end up riding alone.

And then this happens. It's a sunny, warm day, perfect riding temperature. The route is an old railway line.

0:53.0

The trail sees a lot of ATV traffic so the center of this gravel is pushed up high forming a ridge

0:58.5

which is quite difficult to ride over, especially at any sort of speed.

1:03.6

It's a perfect opportunity to practice skills as I cross up and over that ridge and go back and

forth.

1:09.9

A difficult maneuver, but it's fun to practice.

1:12.2

And there's sort of a hint of risk there to keep

1:14.6

me on track and help build my skills. Then suddenly something changes. Maybe

1:19.8

it's in the rocks, maybe something caught in my eye, maybe I looked away.

1:24.4

I'm not sure, but it's a moot point because now I'm off the side of the trail,

1:28.4

into the bush front wheel downhill.

1:30.6

The bike is on its side, kind of jammed into the bush, a few feet lower is the swamp,

1:35.7

and the ground is wet and slick.

1:38.0

And as I stand there, considering my predicament, I think that, well, I was probably riding a little too fast for the maneuver that I was practicing.

1:49.0

Yeah, most likely too fast.
