Good morning everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Friday, April 24th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the bet. A U.S. Special Forces soldier is under arrest and in jail this morning,

accused of making hundreds of thousands of dollars off of bets on the Venezuelan president.

Specifically betting on when Nicholas Maduro would be out of power.

The one major problem here, he was involved in planning and pulling off the operation to capture

Nicholas Maduro.

The indictment against Master Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke says he wagered more than $30,000

on Polly Market in late December. Prosecutors say he then profited more than $30,000 on Polymarket in late December.

Prosecutors say he then profited more than $400,000 after the raid and then allegedly

tried to hide the money using a foreign cryptocurrency vault.

Law enforcement was suspicious almost immediately, given the timing of the bets, and

Polymarket reported them to the Justice Department as well.

Court documents say they have photos of Van Dyke around the time of his final bet on the way they put it is,

what appears to be the deck of a ship at sea at sunrise wearing U.S. military fatigues and carrying a rifle.

Separately, there's new reporting about questionable bets also being placed on Iran operations.
