I've got a lot of friends who are doing solar now and it seems like I see solar companies pop up left and right and granted they're not

2000 employees it's like you know pretty much a guy getting some sales guys together and from my perception it's just they're selling other people stuff like they're just marking it up

They're just going door to door sales and you know trying to make a quick rip like what's going on in the solar industry right now

So a lot of our competitors and some of them are public they have dealers and I understand the model you know they come to you or this guy or that guy that has employees that they become their sales machine so they have a lot of dealers think of direct TV right direct TV as a bunch of dealers that go out into the installations form.

It's the same concept for solar used to be the same concept for alarm dealers right alarm dealers would be you know you're selling the paper to brinks or ADT or somebody like that.

That's what these sun runs and these other companies are they have dealers it's not that it's a horrible model but the problem I have with it is you're given a red line you're telling a dealer this is this is what I'm going to charge you anything over that you make so you're giving them the ability to charge whatever they want which is just bad for the marketplace.

It what it allows is they can gouge or they can just load like they don't have anybody's interest and so you're competing with first of all company a that selling you and the company be that's installing you and the company see that's financing you so you have three companies involved so it's confusing to the consumer but then they don't care about the customer they care about just selling the paper not all of them but a handful of them are like I'm just turn and burn I don't have any liability that customer I'm just selling it our models a little different you know we built it kind of backwards but it's works for us and it makes this unique anytime you fill up the former you know online.

You see our TV commercials are radio and you call us it's us we show up your house it's us we do the install it's us everything is us which allows us to care about that customer experience we have a white glove service that we strive for we the concierge that's assigned to each account you don't get that with other companies and that's because they're just about throwing panels on there and get more deals and I get that but what it does is it gives the solar industry sometimes a bad name especially here in the west coast in California Nevada Arizona where you get all these mom and pop

companies that are just dealers of a bigger company they don't know what the hell they're doing they're out there selling and making promises they can't keep I get doorknocked every week right they're not educated it's the same thing solar is where security was 10 12 years ago right and security you get knocked you door hey I want alarm system people cut your phone line like that's I was in that business

in the sales reps were like that we don't have sales reps we have field energy consultants we empower people to make decisions to go solar not meaning we put them through an authority page which is like an educational piece on social media they fill out a form then we qualify them after we qualify them we send somebody out to do a presentation

we're not bothering them why they're making chicken for their kids or their moan their lawn they're booking the appointment and when that in 2021 people need to understand that most of the consumers out there are so smart they have instant gratification on their phone all the time they want to be empowered to make a decision that's what makes this different we invest in the for in the forefront of digital marketing meaning that's our cost per acquisition rather than paying some dealer and company crazy amount of money to go harass a nocturus and maybe make promises they can't keep that's why we have an a plus in the BBB

in every state that we're in you know we've win all these awards for customer care best place to work it's because we care about our consumer we care about our employee and we care about the process well and to when it comes to pricing you have a more consistent pricing model because these guys aren't just raising it up

however much they feel like and you know you like you said you're the one going direct to the consumer you can answer the questions they know that they are dealing with you once they commit to buy correct like everything is done through you guys

and the reason that's important is because if me and you go knock on the same person's house they fill out a form and I'll say a dealer program and you go in and you offer a system for a hundred eighty dollars a month and I'm selling it for two hundred dollars a month the customer then is getting confused and doesn't trust that brand because why is this person

is this person is by me off what do they give me they're not that's what you get when you get with dealers which are smaller entrepreneurs just resell now I understand the dealer model but the problem for our brand power home is there not worried about our brand and we're worried about our brand I mean rule number one in business you got to protect your brand yeah and when you have dealers out there that other own companies

and they're just selling you stuff it's hard to protect your brand I watch in the alarm ministry get tainted 80 T get thrown to the the ringer brings monotronics get thrown to the ringer I didn't want that at power home so we have a very very small dealer program that's our people that we know and trust that are in different industries where they offer their customers what we do they're not selling solar to other people

or you know Ryan's company can do this compare to power home doing that I don't want to deal with that the customer with us it's an experience it's a lifestyle you know they're getting battery and storage to generate they're getting the energy efficiency package we put in they're getting the customized financing that we put in place at a 299 25 year all these things that we put in place that are different than our competitors allows us to do it that way yeah no I mean it does seem like just from what I'm here in what I know about the industry as a whole you guys are doing it way different

than everyone else I mean you guys are running it like a big legit business the other one talked about that solar people ask me all the time like Ryan what do you think of solar and usually I say well as a real estate investor I don't like it you know as a flipper because I acquire all these homes all the time and they've got these you know leases on them they've got you know even if they bought it sometimes you have to try and assume the loan and then I have to go resell the home and give them

that home with solar and you know whether they want it or not like it's already there yeah so I mean what's your perspective on that for people that

you know aren't going to like live there long term was you still recommend solar great question and one of our qualifying questions when we sit down with somebody is how long do you how long have you been in the home and how long do you plan on being here if it's three or less years they're not a they're not qualified you're not even trying to we're not even there's no reason yeah but if it's going to be four more there is because they're going to get their tax credits if they're if they're out of the market
