What is popping in the garden everyone? Welcome back. This is Kevin with the Epic

Gardening Show. Today we're gonna kind of do a throwback episode with Bill of

a Garden Maker. I talked a couple weeks ago about soil life and the soil food web and all the intricate

relationships that are happening in your soil and why that means it's so important to

maybe practice the no-till method or to build that soil food web and you know I have to be

honest I got a lot of this information from a book that Bill recommended me when we had

this podcast and so that's that book, Teaming with Microbes, by Jeff Loeufels. And so I figured

it would be great to have Bill come in and drop some of his knowledge because it's much

deeper than mine. He actually was an editor on teaming with microbes with Jeff.

And so if anyone's going to know a lot more

about the Soil Food Web and why that spurred

the creation of Garden Maker and Organic Fertilizer

approach in general and maybe even you might say the

permaculturist approach in general it's going to be someone like Bill.

So without further ado let's let Bill give us some knowledge on soil

microbelife. I would love to know actually. I think a lot of people hear all the time about the soil microbiology and all the beneficial bacteria

and mycorrhiza and fungi, but maybe don't really understand what's actually happening

in the soil and why people who talk about it are so

passionate about it you know because a lot of people I mean that's an invisible

process to most people you're not you're not seeing that happen in an active way so maybe

could you just explain like a primer maybe a bird's eye view of what is

actually happening there I will I'm going to give if you've not watched a video on YouTube and I wish I had the exact address about the impact of the returning wolf to Yellowstone and what it did to the willows and the ground squirrel population.
