I'm your host Jeff Buck today I'm joined by Tommy Joe Martins on the social spotlight

now Tommy Joe Martins you may or may not have heard of. I wasn't very familiar

with him at all until last year when he started writing a couple blog posts that got a lot of

attention about what it's like to be on the other side of the garage. I'll give you a little

example before we get into the

social spotlight interview so you can see where a lot of my interest in Tommy was coming from.

He said, quote, we're not the best drivers in the country. We're the best drivers in the country

that can afford it. All it takes to make it to this level is money.

You want to be a NASCAR Truck Series driver?

Write a check.

If you're 16 years old, have ever driven a race car in your life and have about $50,000 to $150,000 lying around,

then you can be a NASCAR driver.

It's not about how talented you are.

If you want to break into NASCAR,

then you have two options.

Be rich or be a great salesperson.

Pretty strong and powerful words, right?

And I think that a lot of us probably knew that that's the case,

but to see it in print from a guy who's driving,

that was something that got a lot of attention.
