0:52.4	some extremely difficult time and how she managed to not only hang on to her sobriety, but even thrive as a result of it.
1:00.8	In the late spring of this year, forest fire season came early to my home province of Alberta, Canada, likely due to an Aligno effect that caused a short, mild winter and an early, warm, dry spring,
1:13.3	actually make that a hot dry spring.
1:16.9	And the city of Fort McMurray, Alberta, is nestled into the boreal forest, with many precautions
1:22.0	in place to protect the city from the natural threat of forest fires.
1:27.5	Officials are diligent and watchful since this community of 90,000 people has only one highway
1:33.8	in or out.
1:35.8	It is otherwise accessible only by air.
1:39.0	And firefighters have been battling ablaze in the city's vicinity when suddenly, on May 3rd of this year, the winds shifted,
1:46.6	and the fire grew quickly in size and speed and unexpectedly headed towards the city
1:52.1	and devoured its way through everything in its past.
1:55.4	On short notice, the entire city had to evacuate down a route that was not designed for those volumes of traffic
