Maybe a little fixer-upper type situation, new floors, or what not?

Today, I want to talk a little bit about home renovations, mainly because over at

Weinhab, we've been just, well, it's been kind of home rental month and we've been

running with that.

So, I wanted to talk a little bit about how you can high level think about large purchases

in general, but specifically now, let's talk about home renovations.

First, they remind me a lot of software projects.

And by that, I mean plan that they will take twice as long and that they will cost not

twice as much, but 50% more build some buffer into your plan.

So if you're going and you're doing your own project and you're saying, I'm going to

replace a couple of appliances, I'm going to update this or that, you know, you can go online,

you can shop around, you can figure that out, and if you're doing your own labor, then

a lot of the variation in cost goes out the window.

But if you are planning on hiring out some of that skill because you do not possess said

skill to the level required, then yeah, plan on it taking longer to find someone, taking

longer for them to finish and for it to cost more than you might have originally expected.
