The Lord Jesus had 12 original disciples, but those men were just the first of many more followers of Christ.

They are an example for us to learn from and a reminder that God works in ordinary people.

I wonder, which one are you? Which one did you most readily identify with and to see yourself in?

I'm glad God uses different people, aren't you?

And of all these varied personalities and backgrounds and gifts, one thing is the same,

and it is this, that every true follower of Jesus Christ must come to the end of themselves.

So you want to be a disciple?

You really want to be a follower of Jesus Christ?

What does that mean?

What does that look like?

We began our study in Mark chapter 3, but let's go back to Mark now to let the Lord speak in Mark

chapter 8 in verse number 34. It says, and when he had called the people unto him with

his disciples also, he said into them. So get the picture. Jesus is speaking to the 12,

but to everybody else. He's speaking to the original followers and to others who said they wanted to be

followers. Do you see yourself here? What is it that he says? Whosoever will? Well, that's a powerful

way to start. Aren't you glad that he said whosoever? Whosoever should call upon the name of the Lord

should be saved. I'm a whosoever will man because Jesus was a whosoever will preacher.

Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
