Hello, hi. Okay, so I don't normally do personal videos or podcasts. For the basic reason,

I don't really think that you're tuning in to hear me babbling about myself. I have always

thought though that if you've got some sort of platform and you have a particular experience

which affects a significant number of other people, then it can be helpful for you to use your

platform to talk about that. And that's the spirit of this particular video. So I've just been

diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which is ADHD. Before I talk about it,

what it is, I should say this did not come as a surprise to my buddies when I told them,

when I told Navarra's Michael Walker, his response was not the biggest surprise. Another friend

I've noticed that's a teenager replied, yeah, I know, obviously. My current partner, who's a doctor

retraining a psychiatry, told me he diagnosed me on the second date. Lovely stuff. Very

celebrities I've interviewed in the past with ADHD, such as Russell Brand and Roy Bremner, just

presumed I had ADHD when I met them. Now, I guess, like a lot of LGBTQ people, I've always had this

sense of people that's a cliche but have been different in some way before I knew I was LGBTQ.

And obviously being LGBTQ was a big part of that. But as my childhood friend put it somewhat

euphemistically, you've always had a little special sprinkle of something and he did the salt

bay thing while he was doing it. Well, here it is. That's the special sprinkle. I've been mulling

over getting diagnosed for a long time. But I'm hopelessly disorganised, which is part of the problem.

It's slightly unfortunate, isn't it? People who need to get diagnosed with ADHD struggle to get

diagnosed with ADHD because they've got ADHD. But my twin sister got diagnosed with ADHD earlier

in the year, which gave me the impetus to do something about it. It's true that amongst

identical twins, it's far more common if one has it than the other than compared to fraternal

twins, but it's also significantly more common amongst both fraternal twins than amongst siblings
