But the two main questions were, is epithelamic inflammation involved in, at least in the

0:17.9

rodent models, when you see the obesity happen from the high fat diets that

0:22.0

people use, can that be measured as sort of causal? And then looking at the specific types of fat,

0:29.6

can I see a difference in both the obesity and other things like insulin resistance and body

0:35.2

composition? Can I get a difference in that by keeping the amount of fat the same,

0:40.4

but changing the composition from pretty much all saturated

0:44.9

to very highly unsaturated.

0:47.8

I'm not saturated. Hello and welcome to another episode of Sigma Nutrition Radio.

1:06.2

As always, I am your host, Danny Lennon, and today we are at episode 197 of the podcast and in just a few

1:15.2

moments I'm going to be joined by researcher Kyle Mamunas who has a PhD in nutritional science

1:22.3

and is currently a researcher mainly looking at the area of the effects of fatty acids on energy balance

1:30.0

regulation. And today we're going to talk about some of that research and some of the

1:34.1

implications for that and potentially some of the effects that we see with polyunsaturated fat

1:40.4

and saturated fat and the different proportions of those in the diet and some changes that

1:46.7

we can see, particularly at a cellular level, that may be a bit counter to what typically

1:52.1

gets discussed.

1:53.6

So just another important facet to this, that might be something worth considering.

1:59.5

As you'll see, Kyle's done some really interesting research.

2:02.8

And while most of the work we'll talk about today is based on rodent models, I just think

2:08.9

viewing things with a open mind and looking at different hypotheses can be really interesting.

2:15.5

So hopefully today throws some of that up to you.

2:18.8

Before we get into the interview itself,
