Hey, everyone. Nate here. We are back. It's time for our third season. This season is called

0:07.6

the Disappearance of Mario Rossi, and it's about an auto-racing trailblazer who mysteriously

0:12.4

disappeared just after New Year's Day in 1983. The season is also about his family, who's

0:18.3

still searching for him nearly 40 years later, and how it all might connect to perhaps the

0:23.0

biggest drug smuggling scandal in NASCAR history. This season is racing, cartels, undercover

0:28.8

FBI informants. I think you'll like it. We're going to play just a snippet of the first episode now,

0:35.4

and then we'll actually start releasing the podcast on April 8th, available wherever you get your

0:39.3

podcast. If you don't want to wait until April 8th, you can actually get the entire third season

starting Thursday, March 25th, add free on Wondry Plus. Download the Wondry app to start your free

trial of Wondry Plus today. Alright, let's get to the episode. To begin this story, we have to go

0:57.1

While Bill is 59 now, he was just 21 then. On that cold January day, Bill got a call from his

1:10.5

family, and they told him he needed to go to his grandma's house in New Jersey. He wasn't

1:15.6

on the question family, so he made the trek. When he arrived at his grandma's house, though,

1:21.7

his uncle told him they needed to go for a ride. Bill was a bit disoriented. This wasn't like his

1:28.2

family at all. Still, he wasn't wanting to question his uncle, so he got in the car.

1:35.7

That was the part I didn't quite understand why we just didn't go to the house while we were

1:39.4

riding, you know, riding around, and then basically he had told me that my father was killed in a

1:45.7

plane crash. Bill sat in shock. His father was Mario Rossi, a legendary race car owner and

1:53.0

engine builder who will get to know very well this season. Sitting in his uncle's car, Bill tried

1:58.9

to process the information. Mario was dead at just 50 years old, having crashed his plane

2:06.2

outside the Bahamas. In stunned silence, Bill's uncle drove him back to his grandma's house.
