Summary

Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. In today's episode, we have three golfers hitting their approach into the green on a par 4 from 150 yards: one scratch, one a 10 index, and the last a 20 index. What are the odds that each make double-bogey or worse? Lou brings the Arccos data, Mark and Greg offer their guesses, and all three give advice that will help you score better during your rounds.

Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap.

Listen on your drive to the golf course or over your Saturday morning coffee!

Data is sourced from Arccos Golf. They have over 1 BILLION shots in their database.

Your second shot is between 150 and 159 yards. I want to know

what the chances are that you make double bogey or worse. This is going to be a three-part question.

0:32.6

I want to know this for a scratch player, a 10 index, and a 20 index.

0:38.7

Again, from 150 to 159 in the fairway on a par four,

0:43.2

what are the chances you make double or worse for a scratch, a 10, and a 20?

Mark, did you win?

0:51.2

Mark won last time.

0:53.5

So, Mark, you get to go first with the Scratch player.

0:58.4

Okay.

0:59.1

I'm not confident with any of my answers.

1:01.4

There's a good question.

1:02.1

No idea would be my initial answer,

1:05.1

but you're going to force me to give a number

1:06.5

with the hope that I look like an idiot.
