Summary
Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. Lots of golfers, both pro and amateur, are trying to hit the ball further. But does it really matter when it comes to scoring? If you gain 10 yards off the tee, how likely are you to lower your index? In this episode, Lou puts that question to Mark and Greg. The answer will likely shock you.
Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap.
Listen on your drive to the golf course or over your Saturday morning coffee!
Data is sourced from Arccos Golf. They have over 1 BILLION shots in their database.

| 0:52.9 | And the population for this is players that gained at least 10 yards year over year. |
| 0:59.5 | So compared last year to, you know, this year. |
| 1:02.0 | And if you were more than 10 yards longer, then I started to do analysis on what your |
| 1:06.9 | scores were last year and what your scores were this year. |
| 1:10.4 | And just for the record, I didn't look at just your average score because you might be playing |
| 1:15.8 | different courses. |
| 1:16.9 | And a 79 on the tips at Kiowa is very different than a 72 at your local club. |
| 1:24.3 | So I looked at differentials, USGA differentials, which takes into account. I'm glad you can't. I was just thinking the same thing, Mark, Mike. I think Greg was going to. Yeah, I know. We were probably going to chime in on how you gather the data. At some point, I've just written that down, did he his differentials? Because if he hasn't, I'm going to be picking him off if I don't win this one. Yeah, I was waiting for him to get median into this discussion too. That's my other favorite |
| 1:48.0 | one. Okay, good. All right. So it's a three-part question today, three-part question, best of three. |
| 1:55.5 | Question number one, what percent of players that gain at least 10 yards year over a year, what percent |
