they were all high school kids taking part in a vibrant underground in Chicago for young people

working their way into bands, open mics at the Old Town School of Folk Music.

Their first album, after getting signed to the prestigious indie Matador Records, was many years ago, kids, when Madador introduced the world to Liz Fair, if you recall.

And they came together in 2019.

And then they went to college, two of the three members, both at NYU, both in the English department.

I also love as a footnote that this young teen scene in Chicago had a fanzine, and they began calling themselves the Hallow Gallo kids.
