Summary

0:00.0	Hi, my name is Pete Gazzaro. I want to welcome you today to the emotionally healthy leader podcast. I'm going to introduce to you a message, but the title of this podcast is called slowing down to be the beloved. Slowing down to be the beloved. This podcast is part of a larger series that I'm doing through the podcast called slowing down for Jesus.
0:23.6	So since this is a podcast and not a book or a sermon series, I'm moving more like stream
0:30.2	of consciousness than a clear methodical way. I've got this theme of slowing down to be with Jesus
0:35.6	and what it means to create a culture like that.
0:38.7	But I began, I began a few weeks ago talking about lessons from the rule of Benedict.
0:43.4	Then I moved to lessons from the Desert Fathers and Mothers, Part 1, and then Lessons from the Desert Father, Mother is Part 2.
0:50.6	And today, I want to move to slowing down to be the beloved and talk about that in Jesus' life
0:55.7	and then what it might look like in our lives.
0:57.5	And actually next week we're going to go into the life of Jesus and finding our desert rhythms like Jesus.
1:02.7	And then I'm going to actually move into Elijah the prophet and his desert rhythms of being and doings.
1:08.1	So, so fascinating.
1:09.4	So this text of this message you're going to hear in
1:12.4	just a few minutes comes out of Mark chapter one when in verse 9 and 10, Jesus is coming up out of
1:20.3	the water and he sees heaven being torn open and the spirit descends on him like a dove. And a voice
1:26.6	comes from heaven saying,
1:27.9	you are my son whom I love with you, I'm well pleased.
1:31.2	And then as you all know, at once the spirit sends him, actually the word,
1:35.4	it drives him into the wilderness for 40 days to be tempted by Satan.
1:40.8	And so the goal of what we're talking about today is what it looks like to slow down to actually
1:46.4	experience being, experiencing being beloved, being loved by God himself and living there.
1:53.8	Because if I can live there as a leader like Jesus, then when I'm dealing with temptations and beasts
2:00.1	and warfare and all the pressure of leadership that comes with it, and what Jesus was about to confront with the Satan himself in the wilderness, we're able to move there into that very differently.
