First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. Okay, so when it comes to getting things done and being productive, we often associate this with moving faster, high energy, even this caffeinated sense of going, going, going.

And in this episode, I'd like to offer an alternative perspective,

which is that one of the best ways that you can be productive and get more done is by actually

slowing down.

One of the reasons for this is that when we're consumed in that sporadic, quick, jumpy,

sort of energy that we think is inspiring productivity and a fast pace, the mind can be

a bit unsettled and it tends to want to jump from one thing to another to another.

Now this can sometimes be useful for brainstorming or creativity.

I've found that for myself at least.

When my mind is really jumpy, when I have some caffeine in me, I do notice that a lot of ideas come up in that space.

And so there's always a time and place for these different mind

states and ways of being.

But I've also found that when my mind is in that jumpy high energy, more,

we might say sporadic kind of place, it's easy for me to be working on something like writing or taking

care of emails or even thinking deeply about something that needs concentration.

And then at the slightest bit of boredom or discomfort,

my mind jumps to something else and pulls up a social media tab or grabs for my phone.
