Hello, I'm James.

Thanks for joining me tonight for Sleep Scriptures, as we hear the letter of James in the new international version.

James was the leader of the Messianic Church in Jerusalem, meaning the congregation was filled

with Jewish people who followed Jesus as Messiah. This letter was written to all of Jesus'

followers, calling them to become truly wise by loving God and others. James explains that we

tend to favor people who could help us and we neglect those who are in need.

This is the opposite of the love of Jesus and shows that our faith is dead. We are broken people

who condemn our brothers and with the same mouth offer praise to God.

We judge others and don't tell the truth.

How we speak about others opens a window to what is in our hearts.

God's kingdom is a place where there should be no divisions. We are to live with patience and hope for Jesus' return to set all things right

and be inspired to live a life full of faith-filled prayer.

Life's trials produce endurance and help to restore us from our brokenness into wholeness.

When we choose to trust God, we view our trials through a new perspective.

The book of James gives us wisdom about how to live a life devoted to God.

When we speak with love, serve the poor poor and trust that God gives us new life

we can fulfill the law of loving God and others James chapter 1 verse 5 says if any of you

lacks wisdom you should ask God who gives generously to all without

finding fault and it will be given to you wisdom is the ability to see our trials

through a new perspective God will generously give this wisdom to those who ask in faith without doubting.

When we recognize our brokenness before God, we are forced to choose between the anxiety

of that reality and trusting in God alone.
