0:50.9	We will travel in time and space and discover different chapters of history.
0:58.0	Our first story of the night will be about the Voynich manuscript,
1:04.0	a handwritten and illustrated codex that appeared in the 20th century,
1:12.4	but was written in the 15th century,
1:15.7	possibly in Italy.
1:18.4	This manuscript is an unknown language that has never been deciphered.
1:24.7	Along with the story of the manuscript,
1:33.4	we will dive into the world of book handwriting in the Middle Ages, a practice mainly executed by monks at a time when printing was not yet in use.
1:42.5	Our second story will take us to ancient Crete and the Minoan civilization.
1:51.0	In 1908, a strange clay disk was discovered in the ruins of a palace in Feistos, Crete.
2:08.3	It is believed to date from the second millennium BC, a time when an advanced culture flourished on the island of Crete, centuries before the rise of Greek cities.
2:16.0	The disc is covered in symbols on each side that form spirals.
2:22.8	We will discuss the continued attempts at deciphering it. I will tell you about this artifact
2:30.2	and what we know of this ancient Minoan civilization.
