How about an ever present stench of rotting flesh or infectious diseases contaminating your water supply?

Well, if your neighbor is a pig farm run by Smithfield foods, you can expect to be pretty, pretty annoyed.

Our guest today will be attorney Mona Lisa Wallace, who brought a nuisance suit against Smithfield foods in North Carolina.

An author, Corbin Addison, whose new book Wastelands, the two story of farm country on trial tells the tale of that court battle and the circumstances leading to it.

It's both a sprawling story about the history of agriculture in America, the geopolitics of the pork industry, legislative capture by big ag and the impact of agricultural pollution.

And it's also a deeply personal narrative of the families whose homes, livelihoods and health were destroyed by a bunch of greedy pigs, not the four legged kind.
