| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to this late political gab fest for Friday, May 16th. |
| 0:09.6 | I'm John Dickerson here with David Plotz and Emily Bazelon. |
| 0:13.0 | Today we are going to talk about three things. |
| 0:15.7 | One, politics, two, the California Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage, and three, China. We're not going |
| 0:22.3 | to talk about clothes. We're not going to talk about what we've been eating or what we're |
| 0:25.5 | thinking about eating tomorrow. The first topic is politics. The West Virginia primary, Hillary |
| 0:30.4 | Clinton demolished Barack Obama by 41 points in the mountain state. And this has led to the following bad pieces of news for Hillary Clinton. |
| 0:40.5 | John Edwards came out and endorsed Barack Obama, even though Hillary Clinton's health care |
| 0:44.3 | plan is more like Edwards is. |
| 0:46.6 | The United Steelworkers came out and endorsed Barack Obama. |
| 0:49.8 | Nehrole came out and endorsed Barack Obama. |
| 0:52.3 | And eight superdelegates have come out and endorsed Barack Obama |
| 0:56.0 | since West Virginia with only one endorsing Hillary Clinton. |

These state chapters protested and said it's not time to do this. We are staying neutral. You know, we think that Hillary Clinton should have a chance to play this out. So it was interesting to see that divide among feminists reemerge yet again. I didn't really answer your question, though. No, no, but there was a good piece of news information conveyed by Emily. Well, I haven't had to respond to. Now I have to come up with some grand theory about this. |
| 1:45.5 | Yeah, well, she had a really bad week despite having a great week. |
| 1:49.4 | Yeah. |
| 1:49.9 | You know, the most interesting thing I saw was actually this wonderful map that the blogger |
| 1:56.0 | Josh Marshall posted on his website, which showed the places where Hillary Clinton had gotten, I think it's over 60% of the vote or over 65% of the vote. And if you look at it, it is an exact match on Appalachia. And he was also pointing out specifically that Obama's problems with white working class voters also map on to this map, right? |
| 2:18.2 | Yes. |
| 2:18.9 | And he was saying, well, why, what is it about this region of the country? |
| 2:22.1 | So if you look at these states where he's had these bad losses, I mean, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia. |
