Hello, welcome to this late political gab fest.

I'm John Dickerson here on June 19th Friday with David Plotz in Washington, Emily Bazelon in New York.

We're going to get right to our first topic, which is Iran.

It's also going to be our second topic.

And then our third topic is going to be something that Emily will explain when we get there because I'm not quite sure what it is at the moment.

Divorce. The word divorce. The word divorce will be involved in the third topic. But first, we're going to – we're going to talk about Iran. David, who is in London this week because that's the kind of thing he does, well, A, give me a reaction to what happened, and B, being in London, what was the kind of view from there? It's like I'm giving the interview of foreign correspondent. The view from there was, what do you mean? With like when I had the two minutes to check the internet, I... David, for the 20 minutes before this program began, had a long thesis about how America was in decline based on his visit to London. Did I say anything about Iran? Now, however, he's going to back off. Okay, well, then if you were unable to... What about the cab drivers, plots? Come on. If you were unable to take in any impressions... Oh, good thing. Okay, apparently unable to take in any of impressions about his surroundings. David Plotz, Nevlitz, what was your response to Iran?

Well, so today, the Supreme Leader of Iran gave a speech, which strongly suggested, one,

that he had accepted the election results, that the election results were resounding in favor

of President Ahmadinejad,

and that the protesters, you know, had better get their act together and get out of the streets pretty soon.

So the signals coming on Friday seem to be, we've tolerated this for a little bit, but, you know, enough already and be done with it.

And my sense is that the administration,

that sort of the authority in Iran still is, you know,

it controls the military, it controls theocracy,

it controls the police,

it doesn't control the streets of Tehran for the moment,

but that will wear itself out

and that they are pretty confident

that they can sort of weather this and move beyond it and get their Ahmedin Najad back in place.
