Philanthropy and charity and effective altruism and all that kind of goodness today because...

And this is where you plug your episode. I just did an episode

for Planet Money, the podcast from NPR, about how when USAID got cut so suddenly earlier in the year,

it left all of these programs around the world without any funding. And private philanthropy

cannot fill that gap. It's too large, but a lot of them were sort of scrambling, panicking, trying to figure out how they could help in such a basically humanitarian crisis.

And so we got to ride along with one such philanthropy.

So this is what we're going to talk about.

It is nerdy philanthropic conversation, but it is also with any luck, something that will encourage all of you

lovely listeners to give a whole bunch of money to either give well or a Lima, both of which

are worthy causes and both of which I have personally given money to.
