Let's have a quick minute to remind ourselves where we are. We are in a place called

Sorrows and I am gonna say the temperatures here are ranging between the mid-40s and 50s.

Let's translate that for Nathan real quick.

So that would be

between 7 degrees and 12 degrees, Nathan.

Gosh, our temperature scales are so very different. And then. The Oh, you know. Our story opens on a close-up of fibers.

This could easily be woven cotton or perhaps linen.

It is clearly not a finely woven fabric. It's a practical fabric, meant to do a very simple job and be discarded. The uneven fibers interlace with an uninspired but evenly dyed decoration. They are a dark brown, a dark brown that matches a skin tone that is

darkened only by spots where it appears that ink and blood in mixture have slowly absorbed

through the fabric. We can see now that this fabric is laid over the chest of Captain Oramar Vale.

I think the Captain may, at least in part, be directing his attention down to the fabric because it feels quite strange.

Unlike most bandages, this is just laid over his chest in a single layer that has stopped a remarkable amount of bleeding very efficiently and perhaps

distressing. It is as though he can feel the fibers as though they were his skin, that this is a new layer of

skin that has been grafted onto his. He was instructed by his metaphysician and tattoo artist to leave this on for at least a week to allow the ink to set properly.
