Hello again, everybody, and welcome to the Mike Francesa podcast as we look towards opening day

and especially towards the Yankees and the Mets and exactly what to expect from these teams.

You know, the optimism has been at least tempered by what's gone on, okay?

With the exception of the whole excitement around Volpe, it has been a tough spring training

as far as optimism for these two teams after having an offseason where there was nothing but optimism for both teams.

You know, but I think the injuries, the Diaz injury obviously and what that means,

the injuries to 60% of the Yankee starting rotation and what that means.

But remember, it is a very long season.

And look at both things.

Okay?

The Mets clearly built around the start, the top of a rotation with two stellar, you know,

Hall of Fame types.

And then, of course, a closer who had established himself as the best closer in baseball.

Now he's gone for the season, so everyone feels, all right, that's it, down the drain.

You know, the Mets don't have enough to get it done.
