Oh, hup. The summer was reaching its gloryeth Zenith in late July of 1997.

Normally quite dry by this time in the ranch lands of Northeastern Utah,

this summer had actually turned out to be quite lush, the pastures bursting with

green under the hooves of loin cattle. But however beautiful the scenery at Skim Walker Ranch, the

scientists at the helm of the NIDS team, the National Institute for Discovery Science,

was growing frustrated. Though they had personally experienced many strange and even terrifying phenomena,

they had yet to capture anything that amounted to scientifically useful data.

Personal experiences and anecdotes don't exactly count as footnotes in peer-reviewed literature after all.

And so, tired of the constant near misses, the repeated instances of experience without documentation beyond eyewitness accounts.

The team decided to install some surveillance equipment in the form of six cameras deployed

in one of the hottest areas of the ranch for strange activity. The cameras were cleverly

arranged so that the cameras captured not only a 360 degree view of the area but

also each other. Each camera post was itself surveilled by another, ensuring that nobody could tamper with the instruments without being captured on film.

Certain that nothing could now take place without at least some chance of scientific documentation, the team waited and waited.
