For a long time, since the Middle Ages, in fact, there's been a general historical

belief among some people that the Catholic Church once had a female Pope named Pope Joan.

There's even some contemporary documentation to support this.

Was it a cover-up?

Was one of the male popes a woman in disguise?

Today we're going to separate the history from the pseudo-history.

But Joan is today unskeptoid.
