Did you know that the real year right now is not what you think it is?

That's what some claim, apparently the Catholic Church or some other powerful entity, altered

all the history books, and inserted some three centuries of fake history that never actually

happened.

It's really only the year 1715 right now.

It's an interesting claim, and might prove devilishly difficult to falsify it, but we're

going to try right now on Skeptoid.

Today we're going to go back into history all the way back to, well, we're not very

sure where, because according to some large chunks of what we believe our history never

actually happened.

The phantom time hypothesis is any of a number of alternate chronologies of the past few

millennia, in which whole centuries of false history have been inserted into the calendar

ex-post facto by the ruling class.
