Hi everybody, welcome back to the Be There In 5 podcast. I'm Kate Kennedy, your host.

A year older, none the wiser. I, uh, just got back. I ended up staying home for close to

a week. It was glorious. So I grew up in Virginia but my parents live in North Carolina

now on the coast. And guys, like I just, you know, it's, I didn't been on a plane, you

know, like everybody in what eight months. I didn't really run in the green grass. Not

that I did that either, but I could have, I haven't been able to like swim in an open

body of water. I did go to Michigan for a couple of brief days here and there. But, you

know, guys, I just love the East Coast. I love being at home. I love having chocolate

milk and land-alaxed white American cheese at my disposal. I remember, I wrote some article

one time about the things I wish I knew when I was 18. And one of the points I wanted to

make to any, you know, young people out there is that there will come a day when all you

want to do is be able to hang out at home and hang out with your parents. I dream of having

meals on Sunday of watching the bats are with my dad and hearing them be outraged about

how he would never give somebody permission to propose to me on a hometown date. I like being

an unapologetic version of myself. I love going home to a comfy bed and all my favorite food is

in the fridge and they let me sleep in. And unlike when you're a teenager, your mom suddenly

actively encourages you to take up space and do absolutely nothing. It's so exciting to like

go out and off on your own in life and it's wonderful to be independent and fierce and I

support and endorse all of those things because I think it's important to miss things. I think it's

important to appreciate things. And while I know everyone's family looks different and I'm so lucky to

have both my parents, whatever your home situation may be, or whatever atmosphere which you find,

you know, yourself the most understood and at ease. It's almost just a funny
