Come on in everyone.

Great to see all of you.

To say it again, it is a beautiful fall day in the city.

As you know, this coming Tuesday is the election.

And we are living through a historic time in our nation as well,

you know, as our city, our nation is more divided than it's been since the Civil War.

I thought that was like a melodramatic quote.

And then I read the official sociological survey.

And it's very true.

The political polarization for all sorts of reasons is at an all-time high in over a century.

And our city has been torn open as we all know and even feel and carry around in our body right now at an emotional level

by just months of violence between protesters and police.

With the shooting of Kevin Peterson just a few days ago in Vancouver, things continue to spiral.

The air is just thick right now.

Walking around the city, even on a beautiful day, the air is just thick with angst and anxiety and so much anger.

And you know, the call of Jesus on his followers.

And that's what we are.

That's who we are.

We are a community of followers of Jesus.

That's what we do.

We practice the way of Jesus together on the streets of the city that we call home.
