0:39.3	January 2016, headquartered in Beijing. What the organization does is all there in the name.
0:44.9	It lends to Asian nations for investment in infrastructure. Listeners to this program,
0:50.3	doubtless remember the embarrassing missteps that the Obama administration took in trying without
0:54.7	success to dissuade some of its allies from joining his founding members. These days, though,
0:59.7	one hears very, very little criticism of the bank as the initial skepticism over its governance
1:04.3	and its environmental standards and so forth. Concerns over Beijing's control of the bank
1:08.8	have largely, if not entirely, subsided. But AIIIB has been
1:14.1	quite active, especially considering its relatively small capitalization and the small size of the
1:18.7	organization itself, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, has found a new and very important role for
1:24.8	itself. Today, to talk about the state of the bank,
1:27.7	I am joined by Sir Danny Alexander,
