Summary

This episode is another attempt at debate across the social justice divide. CJ (@VieKeng on Twitter) has taken exception with my characterization of the Evergreen situation, and perhaps most strenuously with my use of the term "whitesplain." I'm very curious for feedback on this one! Listen to most post-analysis and if you have thoughts, I'd love to heard them in voicemail form! The debate ends around 59:00. Links from CJ:

Okay, for today's episode, got something interesting for you a little different.

I had another one of the conversations in the sort of series of trying to engage people who disagree.

0:47.0

There's, they have been to greater and lesser effect.

0:51.0

I think it's been a very interesting series. This one is a little bit centered around evergreen, but I'd say the debate is more around whether or not the use of the term white-splaining or whatever it it is the variable and then explaining is

1:05.8

useful is bigoted is whatever so that's what this debate centers around even

1:11.9

though I a lot of it I guess is in the specifics of the

1:16.1

evergreen situation but I think that the larger debate is really what the question is here.

1:22.1

I was worried about doing yet another evergreen

1:24.8

related show so I asked my patrons who are my employers whether or not I should publish this

1:31.7

and 80% said yes so definitely a little bit of a minority

1:35.8

there that said no not worth doing another show on it that kind of thing so I

1:40.3

definitely acknowledge you guys and I appreciate your feedback and I understand where you're coming from so I'd say

1:47.5

80% though is a strong enough number that I think it's a good thing to publish

1:51.1

there are a lot of people who really enjoy

1:53.6

when I try to have someone on who disagrees

1:55.4

and see if I can convince them, or who knows,

1:57.8

maybe they can convince me.

1:59.8

But if you're somebody in that 20%

2:02.0

who doesn't want to bother with it, I suppose, maybe tune in at the end of the show afterwards.

2:08.0

I'm just going to say a few words about it, and you could just go for that part.

2:12.0

So either way, here's a debate with CJ,
