This is going to be a commentary and voicemail episode like I normally do on Thursdays and that's

because the special elections that happened and Democrats are absolutely going crazy over

it and Republicans are also being crazy in their own way about it and I just have to try to counter this narrative

because I have some observations that I think you may find valuable

Also after that I've got an extended voicemail segment where I talk about the best questions that I've gotten from you guys over the past few weeks. It's really great. I love that segment, so that will happen as well. But in the meantime I'm going to give you my thoughts on why Democrats should be happy about the special election results. You ready for it? who is in despair right now. That's my goal. But Thomas, you might say, we've had four special elections.

Democrats have lost all four. Participation trophies don't count in elections.

This means nothing.

Democrats messages terrible.

Now it's not the New York Times saying this but they are quoting

a Democrat who said our brand is worse than Trump as a result of these elections.

Let's dig into this a little bit.

First off, yes, Democrats did lose in Georgia and South Carolina yesterday,

so that means that's two seats that we don't have that Republicans have that's not good

so I don't like that of course I'm not trying to say that's like the best possible outcome

but it is really not true to say that the only thing that matters is whether or not you want a seat.
