| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to Series Inquiries Only. This is episode 379. I'm your host Thomas Smith. |
| 0:21.6 | Thank you so much for joining me. So today we're going to be talking about college and |
| 0:26.6 | whether your choice of college makes any difference in your life. This came up because of a |
| 0:31.5 | dear old dad's episode actually. Somewhat recent one we were talking about college and should we |
| 0:35.3 | send our kids to college? How much should we worry about it? All that stuff. And Tom claimed that |
| 0:40.4 | study showed which college you go to doesn't really make a difference. There's some more nuance there |
| 0:44.8 | and my guest will get into it. But that launched my guest today, Dr. Elizabeth Ditch, who has a |
| 0:50.9 | PhD in organizational psychology on a bit of a massive research deep dive as she kind of wondered |
| 0:58.8 | if that was true. She wanted to check the available studies and kind of see what the state of the |

| 1:21.6 | She had tons of studies to go through that this and it actually divides somewhat neatly more than |
| 1:27.5 | I would have thought into a two-parter. And it was she did a ton of work and we recorded for over |
| 1:33.4 | two hours. So there's plenty to go. I would actually worry about giving this to you and any less |
| 1:39.0 | than two parts because it's impossible to retain that much information. So part one is going to be |
| 1:46.4 | about that original claim. Oh, it makes no difference which school you go to. And as with a lot of |
| 1:52.5 | this stuff, it turns out that's kind of based on like one study that's old and that's cited, |
| 1:58.4 | you know, in pretty much all this. And you know, there's some complications there. Will it hold up? |
| 2:03.2 | Will it not? I'm going to leave you in suspense. You'll take us through it. But that's going to be |
| 2:07.4 | kind of the first part. And then part two goes more into what Beth found subsequently. So like |
| 2:14.0 | newer stuff, slightly different questions being answered. So this two-part series will contain |
