Hello and welcome to series inquiries only this is episode 360 wow 360 done a total 360 from

where I was when I started not to make a sense anyway I'm Thomas Smith and instantly

broke my promise of a Sunday night release I know I'm a day late okay here's the

thing this was a chunky episode I thought I was going to have a two-parter here

because it's just it's very dense there's a lot here and so I was working a

little slow I was thinking okay I'll I'm a little late but I'll give them two parts

that'll kind of make up for it and then by the time I got done editing it's not

long enough to justify a two-parter I didn't want to I always feel so guilty I

don't want to do two parts if it's not long enough so it's a one-parter but it

took a little bit extra to edit so that's why I'm a little late but it's great

I have Dr. Brian Gillis back and he's going to tell us about gravitational

lensing which is actually his specialty and also not just gravitational

lensing but how it relates to dark matter dark energy what is dark matter what

is dark energy the universe what a concept it's it's really cool some of the

most fascinating stuff and there's really useful especially toward the end

make sure you listen all the way through because if you've ever wondered about

some of these cosmological constants and the lambda and all this stuff yeah

Brian does a really good job breaking it down I think it took me a little while

to understand some of the stuff and of course I think that maybe means you'll

be sure to understand it because I had to have him reiterate a few times on

some of these and as a result I think it's super cool it's once again the goal

of the show to be able to get lay people like me to understand really
