I'm your host Thomas Smith, and it's time for some commentary.

I've got some stuff to say, and then I also have some very interesting voicemails,

most of which are related to my dire political predictions from earlier in the month.

I guess maybe that was last voicemail, I don't remember, but there's a lot of reaction to that

and that's good.

I'm very interested to hear what you guys think and to kind of go back and

forth so that's gonna be fun. But first I need to talk about a couple things that are in

the news. I'm gonna start with John McCain. I just have a couple observations about this whole thing. I mean obviously I'm not going

I'm not doing the same like thing everybody else is doing and talking about his entire life and his legacy

and blah blah blah. Everybody's covered it. I'm just interested in a couple reactions I've seen on

Twitter in the social media. I think there's a strong appeal and actually there's even a certain

amount of liberal endorsement to the idea that you can't say

you know it's not appropriate to speak ill of the dead it's not appropriate to you know say bad things

about McCain when he died.

And honestly, I don't really buy it.

You know, I think that if John McCain were somebody I knew personally

or I knew his family or I knew they followed followed my social media that might be a different thing

then that's a that's a personal relationship you know I'm not gonna you know somebody I know

passes away I'm gonna of course I'm not gonna say things about them to their family or anything like that I think that's a horrible thing even if I think they're not a great person I just don't think that's appropriate or useful

but it's just not the same when we're talking about a public figure and one thing that frustrated me

was I had so many and honestly I didn't even tweet a whole lot about this. I retweeted some things I thought were really good
