You're listening to serious inquiries only. I'm your host Thomas Smith. And today I've got something that I think is incredibly important. I want to say from the outset that this is obviously not an easy topic it involves a high

profile rape case in Ireland and it was something that as an American I had no idea

was happening at all but the verdict was handed down and some people was

handed down and some people got in contact with me and had posted about the reaction

what they were going through as women

and it was really some gut-wrenching stuff

especially once I looked into the details joining me today to talk about it to discuss it

break it down for us is Jen King Jen King, she's based in Ireland.

She's a feminist and actually she had a thread that went pretty viral

in the wake of this trial where she talked about

when she herself was on the jury for a rape trial so she's got experience in that as well

let's go over to Jen and she's going to break down what went on for us. We're grateful to the jury

for reaching what was a common sense verdict of not guilty on all counts.

Paddy has been consistent in his denials and in his account.

Consistency had never been a feature of the complainant's evidence

long before she entered the witness box.

So these acquittals should come as no surprise to anyone.

Paddy leaves court for the last time today as he entered it

almost 10 weeks ago, an innocent man.
