Summary

The story of Judah and Tamar is probably not one we would have mentioned if we were the ones telling the back story of Jesus’s ancestors. However, many times God’s story highlights the unlikely and the undeserving.

Hey, today, today we're beginning our brand new Christmas series because it's a brand new Christmas season.

0:04.6

And the series is entitled, Sinners Like Me. And when I suggested this title, there was some feedback from some of our staff.

0:12.2

It's like, Andy, do you really think people are going to invite their friends to a Christmas series called Sinners Like Me?

0:17.2

I'm like, absolutely, because we all know that we are all sinners like the people

0:22.0

around us, right? This is kind of common ground. So I just want to begin this way. On the day I die,

0:28.5

1:18.5

1:23.6

understandable, but it's also unfortunate. It's understandable because we want to teach our children the stories of the Bible.

1:29.8

And some of the stories of the Bible, you know, they just have some don't look over their children parts to them.

1:35.4

But unfortunately, if you bring that mindset as an adult into adulthood, that's when it becomes unfortunate that we have a tendency to glamorize and romanticize

1:44.6

and kind of stand off the rough edges of some of the biblical narratives. But here's the thing.
