Well, I remember the first time I entered Kyle Field, the football stadium on the campus

of Texas A&M.

I was a student there, but brand new freshman and did get raised as an Aggie, didn't know

much about school.

And so as we were walking towards the stadium, I was peppering my upperclassmen roommates

with questions like why are thousands of us entering this football stadium on Friday

night when the game doesn't start till Saturday?

Why are we loading up this stadium at midnight when the game's tomorrow afternoon?

And I'm asking these questions and they said, well, because what we're about to do is

call midnight yell.

And they said, we arrive in the stadium at midnight, thousands of us, and we practice the

yells we're going to do during the game tomorrow, which I'm like, don't those kind of come

naturally?

Like I always thought that was sort of instinctive.

And they were like, no, no.

They're like, here we yell in unison because when thousands of people all yell the exact

same thing, it intimidates and confuses the other team.

Which I thought, okay, there's a logic to that.

I get that.

So we're going to practice.

They're like, yeah, so we're going to get in the stadium for a few minutes.

We're going to practice this.
