I'm trying to sort of get a history lesson on Juneteenth. What does

Juneteenth mean to mean to people? So Juneteenth commemorates the fact that the slaves in Texas did not find out they were free

until two and a half long years after everyone else.

So the Emancipation Proclamation happened in 1863.

The slaves in Texas didn't find out they were free until June 19th in 1865.

And the fact that they were free was intentionally kept hidden from them and as a matter of fact

slaves were brought from other states to Texas so that their freedom could be kept hidden from them as well.
