My guest today is known for travelling across the globe, visiting challenging places,

meeting interesting people and getting deep into dangerous situations.

He started researching his New York Times bestselling book The New Jackals when he was just

21. Once published a few years later, it became the first mainstream book on bin Laden, Al-Qaeda,

and a new age of terrorism and in the wake of 9-11 made him the man everyone needed

to speak to. He's fronted well over 25 globe-trotting TV series, including Equator, Indian Ocean

and Pilgrimage. Today, we chat about hunting down South African neo-Nazi terrorists, learning

to really listen to people and being an adrenaline junk. It is, of course, author, journalist

and broadcaster, Simon Reeve.

The best example of that was going in to see the boss of BBC 2 with nothing but a single

page printed out of a map from Wikipedia holding up and saying, Indian Ocean, my goodness,

and she went, oh, that was it!
