Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Full Disclosure, a series of long-form podcast interviews,

which we could dress up in fancy language describing the importance and the relevance of the people that we're talking to.

But as I've told you before, it's chiefly just an opportunity for me to spend time

with people that I've always wanted to meet.

And to that end, I'm delighted this week to welcome Simon Amstall, who is, of course, a writer,

a director and a stand-up comedian of some repute. Simon, let me begin by saying, I'm slightly

surprised you agreed to do this because it didn't

mean from what I know of your work.

Is it a mistake?

No, well, we shall find out.

But you're not that comfortable normally talking about yourself.

Well, is that sort of a joke because that's all I do?

Well, no, it's it.

Well, you do it uncomfortably.

I usually do it on my own.

That's what I mean.

You make work about yourself, where you do stand up about yourself, but you don't, you

don't need nor particularly seem to like having an interlocutor involved in the process.

Yeah, I suppose, is it, is it control?

It might be about control.

I'm kind of letting go of it. You know, I've got to film to promote, so I feel like I've really got to make sure people go to the cinemas. And I hope they do. We will move on to why I think anybody, anybody possessed of a functioning heart should go and see Benjamin.
