Summary

Amazon's new murder-mystery series Deadloch is the latest project from Australian comedy pairing Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney. So, it's got many jokes and zero naked dead women. Hannah got on the Zoom with them to find out why this shouldn't be a radical concept but seems is, as well as writing in a tent in a park, getting recognised on the Bruny Island ferry and Australia's relationship with the c-word. Except, we don't call it the c-word and we say it a lot. Just so you know. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. Hosted on Acast. Hello, Hannah here, and welcome to this week's Sunday Chops, in which I am talking to Australian

0:20.6

comedy pairing, Kate McClendon and Kate McCartney. You might be familiar with some of

0:25.9

their earlier stuff, web series, The Catering Show or ABC's Get Cracking. But if you're

0:31.7

in the UK, you'll likely have recently encountered their work by watching Deadlock, a new comedy

0:36.6

drama series on Amazon, which they created and wrote together. So I got on the Zoom with

0:42.9

McClendon and McCartney, honestly, what a great name for a Toesom. And we chat about the

0:48.4

Murder Mystery Come Comedy series and a lot more besides, including Australia's relationship

0:55.5

with The C-word, which we say a lot. Now, I don't usually warn about swearing on this podcast

1:02.1

because we often do it. So the fact that I'm mentioning it, well, let that be an indication

1:07.2

of how often that we say it. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Is it baking hot there? Not too

1:12.2

much, I hope. Until next time.

1:18.3

Hello, the Kate's. Thank you for joining us. And thank you for doing this in the evening

1:23.4

in Australia, meaning that I didn't have to get up at 3 a.m. to do this. It would

1:27.8

have been a lot less fun for me. I don't know how I'm going to differentiate between you

1:31.3

because normally I use people's names, but since you are both Kate, maybe one of you

1:34.5

could put on an extreme comedy accent for me. Oh, not a problem. Thanks for having us

1:40.2

by the way. Oh, yeah, thank you. And we would never make you get up at 3 a.m. We've done

1:45.7

that before. Restfeeding children and we would never make someone do that. Oh, yes. We usually

1:51.0

go by McClennan and McCartney just, I'm Kate McClennan and we just go back to their

1:56.3

names. Yeah. But I've got a slightly lower

1:59.2

tamper is tamper the right word, probably not. And you sound like a little, little child.

2:04.7

Yeah. Okay. Okay. Maybe not at 8 o'clock at night. We'll make it sound like I hit a
