Hello Jen here to tell you about this week's episode of the Sunday Chops.

I hope you're all doing okay in week 12.5 of lockdown. This week I had a lovely

chat with Helen Maralas who holds the Argyropolis Chair in Hellenic Studies at the University of California,

Santa Barbara.

She is the author of a number of books including Pilgrange to Dollywood, a country

music road trip through Tennessee, which we will talk about in this very episode, because, well, love me some dollywood, don't I?

But she is also author of the new book, Antigony Rising, The Subversive Power of the Ancient Myths, which is described as a witty inspiring reckoning with the ancient

Greek and Roman myths and their legacy, from what they can illuminate about hashtag me too to the radical

imagery of Beyoncé and obviously she had me at Beyonce.

We had a fascinating chat about what we can learn from the Greeks and what we should probably

unlearn from the Greeks about misogyny.

Obviously we touch on Beyonce and indeed Dolly Parton and also about the cultural differences between

the UK and the US in terms of how we treat our women.
