A few years ago, I spoke at a conference in the state of Washington.

It was for leaders serving in emergency services, and I reminded these firefighters and first

responders and EMTs of the value of their work, the impact of their lives, and the ripple

effect of their lives on others. I also reminded them as profound the impact of their lives and the ripple effect of their lives on others. I also reminded them

as profound the impact they make on others might be. It's important to know they did not get here

all by themselves. They had people who encouraged them, who taught them, who inspired them,

who mentored them, who challenged them to do more than they thought

was possible. Inviting the men and the women to reflect on just one person, I gave them a few

minutes to share who that person was with those seated closest to them. And after a few minutes

of sharing, they were given a simple challenge. All right, here you go, people.

Before you go to bed tonight, I want you to write a letter, send an email, shoot a text,

or make a call to whomever that person is.

Tell her thank you.

Share with him the impact that he made.

Tell them that you love him and tell him why.

But do it today.

After the presentation, I signed books, I shook hands, I gave some hugs, and I flew home.
