We're talking about the coronavirus today, which many people are talking about, or at least

hearing about in recent weeks. Put simply, what is the coronavirus

that we're hearing in the news?

Yes, it has been big in the news.

I've been getting a lot of inquiries across campus.

So many emails over the last couple weeks.

Yeah, so this new novel coronavirus, which is in the news now,

is, it represents the third coronavirus, which has emerged in human populations over the last 20 years.

And the other two most recent coronaviruses that have been in the news include SARS and MERS coronavirus.

And so this one represents a new, distinct coronavirus that now is impacting human health.
