It may not be the most perfect way, and there'll be mistakes and weird.

Access will be altered.

Veteran showrunner Mike Royce has lived through a lot of staffing seasons.

Normally, this is the time of year he'd be getting lists of writers for hire from agents.

But as the Writers Guild battles the big talent agencies,

he's had to put together a writing staff without the help of agents for the first time.

Royce, who's staffing a CBS pilot, and Valentina Garza, whose credits include Jane the Virgin,

tell us how they're handling staffing after they and their fellow WGA members broke up with their agents last month.

And Royce, who's co-creator of the canceled Netflix series one day at a time,

gives us an update on the status of that sitcom.

He's hoping life finds a way for that one, too.
