Several years ago, we started a new twist on an old tradition in our family around Christmas

and birthdays.

The twist is, any gifts have to match that person's love language.

You may be familiar with Gary Chapman's book, The Five Love Languages.

They are quality of time, words of affirmation, gifts, touch, or an act of service.

So each gift given is one that is truly unique, customized, and one of a kind created

just for that one person and their love language.

It occurred to me last Christmas how much that type of giving is a reflection of God's

love to us.

So how do you know when someone loves you?

How do you usually show love to others?

This meditation from 1 John chapter 4 is a reflection on the love of God and how his

love is shown through his only son who is truly unique and the only one of his kind.

The rest here, as we begin, and just settle here, as the Holy Spirit opens your heart

to receive and to show the love of God.
