life over the 20 plus years that it's been around.

Like, it's interesting to ponder why we can like something that is so strange, so flawed,

so completely reviled and rejected by the arbiters of quote-unquote

taste when it was released.

See, it wasn't until Showgirls was embraced as a joke that people found to not only mock it

a sport, but to actually worship it.

So let me welcome Peaches Christ, who performed and produced full-blown musical

theater productions based on showgirls. Pages Christ, how are you? We have a lot to talk about.

I'm doing great. Thanks so much for having me on your show to talk about one of my most favorite

subjects. Take me back. Like, where were you? Did you see it in the theater?

I want to hear your showgirls journey. Sure. So, I mean, I grew up in Maryland and I was,

you know, definitely an outsider and a weirdo. And my saving grace was discovering the work of John Waters and kind of going to

the school of John Waters, you know, worshipping John and his films, which meant that I read

his book shock value and, you know, sort of started to get into underground film and midnight
